Mercedes-Benz has officially begun local production of the all-new sixth-generation long wheelbase (LWB) E-Class at its Chakan facility in Pune, ahead of its scheduled market debut on 9 October 2024. German luxury carmaker’s move reinforces the company’s commitment to the 'Make in India, for India' initiative, with the locally manufactured E-Class set to showcase advanced technology, luxury, and personalisation tailored to Indian customers. The new LWB E-Class, which has undergone rigorous homologation testing across India and internationally, introduces several technological and safety advancements.
These include the MBUX infotainment system, high-end safety features, and digital assistance systems. Mercedes-Benz starts production of the much-awaited Sixth Generation Long Wheelbase E-Class in India, ahead of its market debut. Among the key safety innovations is the introduction of a centre airbag designed to prevent the driver and front passenger from colliding in the event of a side impact.
This airbag is positioned in the seat cushion of the driver’s seat and activates during a collision. This allows the driver to have an uninterrupted driving experience while the front passenger can engage with entertainment options such as video.
