On Wednesday, Erik’s wife Tammi Menéndez shared a letter written by his aunt Joan VanderMolen on behalf of 24 extended family members, showing their support for the brothers and criticizing Murphy’s “repulsive” depiction of their 1989 murder of parents José and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menéndez in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story . “We are virtually the entire extended family of Erik and Lyle Menéndez,” VanderMolen started in the letter .
