Age: 50 Hometown: Reading, MA College: North Carolina State University Year started as a pro overall and as pro at Haverhill Country Club: I started working in the golf business in 1998 at Salem Country Club. Other stops were at The Loxahatchee Club, Thomson Golf Club, Austin Country Club, Vesper Country Club, Tedesco Country Club and The Milton-Hoosic Club. I was hired as the head professional at Haverhill Country Club late in 2022.

{em}(Todd is also now the Director of Golf/COO at HCC in addition to his head professional duties). How did your interest in golf originate?: I was introduced to the game by my grandfather at the age of five. Playing a lot as a youth, I took a job at a course in college where I learned about the process of becoming a PGA Professional.

I followed that path when I finished school becoming a PGA member in 2004 and have not looked back. Do you prefer to walk or ride on the course?: I prefer to walk and carry. I’ll normally go with the flow of the group, however.

Favorite hole at Haverhill Country Club and why: Hole No. 5 (a par 4): The features of this hole present a great number of challenges. They include a downhill tee shot out of a chute with a well bunkered landing area, a deceptive upward elevation change with the approach shot and a green that has some unique undulations to make putting an adventure.

Best score ever at Haverhill Country Club: 67 (-3). I haven’t brought my whole game to the home course yet! How many holes in one have you had, if any?: Three. The Plantation Golf Club No.

13 (Indio, CA), Sacconnesset Golf Club No. 4 (Falmouth, MA), and Thomson Golf Club No. 4 (North Reading, MA).

Favorite club in your bag: It’s unwise to call one your favorite when you need to stay friendly with all of them. The 60-degree wedge is the one I’ll go to for practicing tempo and yardage control when I’m looking to better my game throughout the bag. Favorite course outside of Haverhill Country Club: So many to choose from but golf trips in recent years have taken me to some special places, including Royal Portmarnock, Carne, LA Country Club, Bandon Dunes, Kiawah, Pinehurst and all of the Pine Needles courses.

Best state for golf: Wherever my clubs are. Your pick as best golfer of all time: Arnie (Arnold Palmer). Favorite sport outside of golf: Whatever my kids are playing.

If you could only give one tip to beginner or amateur golfers what would it be?: Wrap your brain around your feet. Everyone thinks too much about how to impact the club’s approach to the ball by using their hands. A good connection with the ground is the key to effortless power and control.
