Among those, there is a story of an actor who debuted at just 20 and became an overnight star. He quickly became a household name after working with the legendary director Mani Ratnam. We are talking about none other Arvind Swamy began his career with Mani Ratnam’s blockbuster Thalapathi (1991) alongside superstars Rajinikanth and Manmootty.

He then went on to star in successful films such as Roja (1992), Bombay (1995), Minsara Kanavu (1997), Thani Oruvan (2015), and Chekka Chivantha Vaanam (2018). In 1997, Arvind became a superstar and began signing superhit films like Minsara Kanavu that won a National Award. In 1998, Arvind made his Bollywood debut with Juhi Chawla in Saat Rang Ka Sapne.

By the end of the 90s, there came a downfall in Arvind’s career. His films were not performing well at the box office. Some shelved, including Mahesh Bhatt’s directorial debut alongside Aishwarya Rai and Anupam Kher.

The production of two more films got delayed and he got so frustrated that he decided to quit acting in 2000. In mid 2000, Arvind was now managing his father’s business, endured a spinal injury between 2000-13 that left him paralysed and in ‘extreme, excruciating pain�.
