The family of Matthew Perry , including his half-sister Caitlin Morrison and stepfather Keith Morrison , are speaking out about the Friends star's legacy as the first anniversary of his death approaches . In their first interview since Perry's passing, Morrison spoke about her brother's "magnetic" presence. "He had this ability to fill up a room with light," she said, following the doctor who helped supply Matthew Perry with ketamine pleading guilty to drug charges .

A toxicology report confirmed the cause was acute ketamine effects, with the death ruled accidental. Keith Morrison a Dateline journalist, described the devastating impact of Perry's sudden death. "When he suddenly died, it was incredibly shocking," Morrison said.

"Even if you are in some way prepared for the possibility, it's shattering." In response to the tragedy, the family established the Matthew Perry Foundation, dedicated to helping those struggling with substance abuse. Caitlin Morrison, who serves as the foundation's executive director, said the work keeps her connected to her late brother's mission.
