A massive fire broke out on the roof of a Midtown Manhattan skyscraper, sending thick plumes of smoke into the air and taking over the skyline of New York City. The fire was first noticed from the rooftop of The Set, a luxury apartment building in the Hudson Yards area. Firefighters rushed to the scene at 10th Avenue and West 35th Street shortly before noon on Thursday.
Thankfully, there have been no reports of injuries or fatalities, with the FDNY suggesting the fire started in a mechanical room on the building's roof. Around 80 firefighters were on the scene, working to get the flames under control. Meanwhile, New Yorkers flooded social media with photos of the dramatic scene, as the towering inferno became the talk of the city.
