Mahakumbh always sowed seeds of transformation for millions and ignited fire for many revolutions which transformed Bharath as well. The Mahakumbh at Prayagraj, the sacred confluence of faith, devotion, and divine energy, has witnessed many miracles over the centuries. But this year, it bore witness to something truly extraordinary—a former Marxist ideologue from Kerala, once steeped in the radical leftist politics of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), being anointed as a Mahamandaleshwar of the Juna Akhara, the largest and most powerful order of Hindu ascetics.

This is not just a story of one man’s transformation; it is a testament to the eternal call of Sanatan Dharma, which reclaims even those who once stood against it. Swami Anandavanam, from Kerala, is now Mahamandaleshwar of the Juna Akhara. Juna Akhara is the largest and oldest of the 13 akhadas in the country.



He will now be known as Swami Anandavanam Bharati. Sadhu Anandavanam is the first Malayali from Kerala to attain the position of Mahamandaleshwar after Swami Kashikanandagiri Maharaj, one of the leading figures in the field of spiritual and Vedic knowledge in India. The abhishekam ceremonies took place at the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj a couple of days back.

The man who now sits in saffron robes, leading the charge for Hindu resurgence, was once a leader of Kerala’s communist student movement – SFI. In the blood-stained politics of the state, where SFI cadres routinely unleash violence upon their id.
