” In its recognition of Marriott International, PEOPLE magazine emphasized the company’s commitment to hiring refugees worldwide. In 2022, Marriott pledged to employ 1,500 refugees in the U.S.

by 2025, and in 2023, the company extended this commitment by vowing to hire over 1,500 refugees across its European operations by 2026. Since these announcements, Marriott has successfully employed more than 1,000 refugees in the U.S.

and 600 in Europe. Beyond its refugee hiring initiatives, Marriott has remained committed to mobilizing in response to disasters.

Following the devastating wildfires that struck Maui in August 2023, Marriott provided housing and meals for community members, including many of its associates and their families. In the weeks after the fires, Marriott, alongside The J. Willard and Alice S.

Marriott Foundation, the Marriott Disaster Relief Fund, the TakeCare Relief Fund (TCRF), its hotels, and Marriott Bonvoy, contributed approximately $5.5 million to aid relief efforts and supply essential items for over 2,500 affected associates and the wider community. Beyond financial assistance, Marriott focused on supporting local families and restoring a sense of normalcy for children in the area.

With the fires occurring just before the new school year, Marriott offered daily lunches to students, faculty, and staff in West Maui and partnered with other organizations to provide essentials such as backpacks, clothing, and water bottles. Marriott has also played a significant role in humanitarian relief during other crises, including the 2023 earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. Marriott’s steadfast commitment to caring for people, the communities it serves, and the environment has consistently earned it recognition as a leading employer.
