Marie Davidson has confirmed plans for new album ‘City Of Clowns’. The producer made her return recently, signing to Belgian imprint DEEWEE . Working with Soulwax and Pierre Guerineau, she’s now finished work on her new studio album, which lands early next year.
Out on February 28th, sessions elevate her dark-edged club electronics, permeated by her dead-pan humour and incisive lyrics. One key influence was Marie Davidson’s reading of The Age of Surveillance Capitalism by Shoshana Zuboff, themes from which permeate the incoming record. New single ‘Sexy Clown’ is out now, and it plays with the magnetism of the performer, all while directly asking: “Am I full of shit.
..?” Bleakly funny, ‘Sexy Clown’ recalls the sharp digitalism of her club smash ‘Work It’ while also having an identity of its own.
“Most people have a clown inside of them. Some are funny, some are shy, some are twisted, some are dark. The clown is the part of us that is dying to be seen, for better or for worse,” explains Marie Davidson.
