Mariah Carey is already gearing up for the holiday season while preparing for her performance at the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary special. Reflecting on her 2005 album The Emancipation of Mimi, Carey said: “It’s really just an incredible thing that it’s lasted this long,” referring to the album’s hits like We Belong Together and It’s Like That. She plans to perform a medley of songs from the album on Sunday.

After the AMAs, Carey is turning her attention to Christmas . October marks the 30th anniversary of her 1994 holiday album Merry Christmas, which features the hit All I Want For Christmas Is You. Carey reminisced, saying, “It was an amazing recording session, like no other. I loved it.

It was obviously my first Christmas album, and we had decorated the studio, so it was like all Christmas decorations and a Christmas tree. The holiday classic has continued to top charts and set records, and Carey will be hitting the road again for her annual Christmas tour starting Nov. 6.

At last year’s concert, Carey brought out her 13-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan, whom she shares with ex.
