The Grammy-award winning singer, Mariah Carey is mourning the loss of her mother and sister, Patricia and Alison Carey who died the same day. Announcing their tragic demise on Monday via her social media page, Mariah wrote, “My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day.
“I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed. “I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.” As of the time of filing this report there are no details regarding Patricia and Alison’s causes of death.
The singer, wrote about her mother, Patricia, in her 2020 memoir, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey”. She described their relationship as “a prickly rope of pride, pain, shame, gratitude, jealousy, admiration and disappointment.” She added, “A complicated love tethers my heart to my mother’s.
