Margaret F. Rouelle BARRE — Margaret F. Rouelle, 80, long time resident of Spring Street in Montpelier and most recently of Daniels Drive in Barre Town, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024 at the Central Vermont Medical Center.

Margaret was born on September 11, 1943 in Hanover, NH, the daughter of Frank and Florence (Whitcomb) Fogg. Margaret graduated from Hartford High School in 1961 and later from UVM in 1965. On April 10, 1965, Margaret married Gerald Rouelle.



They created a beautiful life for themselves and their children and were the love of each other’s lives until Jerry’s passing on September 14, 2023. She worked as an elementary school teacher in Barre Town for 2 years, and then taught with Central Vermont Adult Basic Education for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1996. It was here she formed life long friendships with coworkers, volunteers and students.

Margaret loved to read and supported many different literacy causes, as well as, local libraries. Even after retirement, Margaret continued to volunteer at CVAE. Outside of Margaret’s work life, she enjoyed traveling, hiking, camping, biking, and playing tennis.

She was an avid Scrabble and word game player. She enjoyed watercolor painting, sewing, and belonged to several bridge groups and philatelic organizations. Her deep love was for her children.

She always took pride in their accomplishments and the adults they became. Survivors include her children; Lisa Rouelle of Portland, ME, Stephen Rouelle and his wife, Kristine Dahlquist of Kawaihae, HI, and Eric Rouelle and wife Loryn of Hilo, HI, who will forever remember her as a devoted mother. She is also survived by her siblings Nancy Doten and her husband Fred of Promfret, VT, Eleanor Cook of Wilder, VT, Nelson Fogg and his wife Mary of Wilder, VT, Raymond Fogg of Ascutney, VT, Katherine Bailey and her husband Morton of Lyme, NH, Barbara Bowen and her husband Kenneth of Jericho, VT, her sister in law Jean Fogg; and many, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is also survived by two special friends from childhood, Jeanette McKenzie of Kanab, UT and Nancy Hansen of Grandville, MI. She was predeceased by her brother Lawrence Fogg and his wife Patricia, her brother Donald Fogg, and her brother in law Gordon Cook. Rest in peace, Margaret.

Your gentle nature, quiet wisdom, and loving spirit will be eternally missed. A memorial service and celebration of Margaret’s life will be held on 11:00 am Thursday, August 29th at the Guare & Sons Funeral Home. The family will host a reception immediately following the services.

Margaret’s remains will be interred with her husband privately at the Green Mount Cemetery. Those wishing to express online condolences may do so at www.guareandsons.
