With less than six weeks to go, organisers behind the Manchester Marathon have revealed the route for the 2024 event. The event will take place on Sunday, April 14 with record numbers set to take part. Just a few weeks ago the final entries went on sale and sold out in record time.
A staggering 32,000 participants are now set to take on the 26.2-mile course. As with previous years, the start and finish areas will be near Old Trafford, and the route will travel through the city centre.
Those taking part can also expect plenty of crowd support from the thousands who turn out to watch the race and position themselves as the designated 'cheer stations'. More than 20,000 had already pre-registered for the remaining spots including participants from abroad, leaving thousands unable to secure a spot in the race.
The adidas Manchester Marathon is the UK's second largest marathon and one of Europe's largest with participants from all over the world travelling to the city to take part. Thousands of spectators are expected to line the streets of Trafford and Manchester to offer their support, while local clubs and volunteers will help to hand out water and direct visitors.
