Thursday, September 19, 2024 Manchester Airport’s revamped Terminal 2, opening in 2025, will feature a market-style dining area, luxury shops like Chanel, and 22 new units for an elevated experience. Manchester Airport is set to enhance the travel experience with the completion of its newly revamped Terminal 2 next year. A highlight of this transformation is a market hall-style street food dining area that will seamlessly integrate with luxury retail options, including the likes of Chanel.

The expansion promises a blend of high-end and popular brands, adding a new layer of sophistication to the airport’s offerings. By the summer of 2025, nearly two dozen new shops, restaurants, and bars will welcome passengers, marking the final stage of a £1.3 billion transformation project.



Among these, 22 new units will cater to diverse tastes and preferences, offering a mix of international cuisine and retail experiences. The Great Northern Market is poised to become a central attraction within Terminal 2. This expansive 472-seat food hall will host six international street food kitchens, providing a global culinary journey right at the airport.

Additionally, new cafes, bars, and restaurants will make their debut, including popular names such as Fever-Tree, JD Wetherspoon, and Greggs, promising a wide range of dining options for travelers. The first phase of Terminal 2’s development, which opened in 2021, already set a high standard by featuring a variety of local brands. Passengers have been able to enjoy offerings from fast-food favorite Archies, pizza from San Carlo, and quality brews from Joseph Holt and Se7en Brothers, alongside well-known chains like Pret A Manger, M&S Food, and Starbucks.

This second phase is designed to build on that success, creating an even more diverse and exciting environment. Luxury shopping will take center stage in the new Boutique Mall, which will house high-end brands like Chanel. For those who prefer more mainstream shopping options, a high street-style strip known as The Avenue will offer selections from Lego, Pandora, and Rituals, seamlessly connecting with the current departure lounge of Terminal 2.

Adding to the retail excitement is the upcoming 2,165 square meter World Duty Free store, featuring premium brands such as Christian Dior, Gucci, YSL, and Charlotte Tilbury. This store aims to provide travelers with an extensive selection of luxury goods, ensuring a memorable shopping experience before departure. Chris Woodroofe, Manchester Airport’s managing director, expressed pride in the airport’s evolution, stating, “We are really proud to connect the North to the world – and now through our brand new Terminal 2 we’re able to do that in a setting that rivals any airport in any major capital city.

” He emphasized that the new additions will elevate the passenger experience, offering a variety of options to suit every taste and budget. With this extensive redevelopment, Terminal 2 aims to be more than just a transit point. It’s set to be a destination in itself, offering world-class facilities and an impressive network of routes, ensuring that every journey starts in style.
