A man was shot outside a bar in Bury town centre last night, Wednesday. At 11.43pm police responded to reports of a firearms discharge outside a bar on Silver Street.

Armed officers, alongside the ambulance service, attended and found a man, aged 39, had been shot in his wrist. Paramedics performed medical treatment at the scene and transported him to hospital, where he is currently in a stable condition receiving treatment for his injuries. Within an hour of police response, officers arrested a man, aged 19, on Larch Street on suspicion of attempted murder.



He remains in custody for questioning. Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector, Andy Day from our Bury division said: “This was a shocking attack, and an example of the type of violence that has no place in our community. "It is vital that those responsible are brought to justice. “While it is early in our investigation, we believe this to be an isolated attack with no wider threat to the community. “We have a man in custody and numerous evidential opportunities are being followed.
