Chhattisgarh’s Bastar district is often in the news either for insurgent violence or the lack of amenities in a region that is often regarded as the Kerala of the state for its lush, beautiful landscape. (Barring the beauty, Bastar is in no way Kerala.) Scamming a government scheme in the name of former adult star and now a Bollywood star Sunny Leone along with Johnny Sins, another adult content creator, is a new low.
Per reports, both Sunny Leone and Johnny Sins are registered as husband and wife in the Mahtaari Vandan Yojana scheme by the state government. The project is to aid married women with a financial aid of Rs 1000 per month. Scamster listed Sunny Leone as wife and Johnny Sins as husband in Bastar’s Talur with a registration number of MVY006535575.
The scheme is aimed at economically weaker married women, aged above 21, who live below the poverty line and have no family member employed by the state government. Per reports, after the news went viral, the collector of Bastar Haris S directed an inquiry with the Women and Child Development Department and ordered to freeze the aforementioned account with immediate effect. The administration has also ordered the recovery of misappropriated funds and an FIR on the scamsters.
Reportedly, the scamster was identified as Virendra Joshi, who colluded with the local Anganwadi worker Vedmati Joshi to register a fake account and transfer funds to his own. Per the documents, the scamster had been collecting funds since March 2.
