Police have arrested a man in London on suspicion of the murder of Shane Sweet who died in a Ford street on Monday. Mr Sweet, a 36-year-old father of two, suffered serious stab wounds in Cambridge Road, Ford on the afternoon of November 4. Despite the best efforts of police and paramedics who gave , CPR in the street, he died at the scene.

Specialist officers continue to support his next of kin. Detectives from Devon and Cornwall Police's Major Crimes Investigation Team have been leading the murder inquiry which has seen a large number of detectives and officers work around the clock. As a result of their inquiries, five people were subsequently arrested.



Over the past few days, police made a number of arrests. while a 42-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Three more women, aged 27, 38, and 40, all said to be local to the Plymouth area, were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

All five have since been released under investigation after assisting police with their inquiries. Investigators have said they believe the suspects were known to the victim. This morning have confirmed they have made a further arrest in connection to the fatal stabbing in Ford.

Det Chief Insp Steve Fleetwood, force investigating officer: "Following extensive inquiries, officers arrested a 20-year-old man in London last night [7 November] on suspicion of murder. "He remains in police custody at Exeter police station for questioning." Det Chief Insp Fleet.
