Emergency services rushed to the scene at Keiss Castle in Caithness around 2.15pm on Wednesday afternoon. Police confirmed a man fell near the Highland landmark, which is located around seven miles from Wick and a popular stopping point for those travelling the NC500.

An SAS spokesperson said: “We received a call at 2.25pm to attend an incident near Keiss Castle.
“Two ambulances were dispatched, and one patient was transported to Caithness General Hospital, Wick.” Police later confirmed the man had been pronounced dead. A spokesperson for the force said: “Around 2.
