A man denied killing a father-of-two in a pub following England's Euro 24 draw with Denmark. David Hallatt, from South Yorkshire, died outside Wetherspoon pub The Dolphin and Anchor in Chichester on June 20. The 57-year-old, who had two daughters aged 20 and 22, suffered fatal head injuries.

Kieran Egan, 30, from Birmingham, denied murder at a hearing in Hove yesterday. He wore suit trousers and a white shirt for the short hearing. Mr Hallatt’s wife and daughters described him as a devoted family man.

“David was so violently taken from us,” the family said in a statement. “He lived for his family, and he loved his work as a tiler travelling the country. “He played the electric guitar, and was an avid football and rock music fan.

“Forever in our broken hearts, Sadie (wife), and Rosie and Sally (daughters).” Mr Egan faces trial in December this year..
