A man in his 30s has been charged in relation to a fatal assault at the Ballyfin Demesne hotel in Co Laois. He is due to appear at Portlaoise District Court on Thursday morning. The man who died, a US national, was in his 60s and was found in the leisure centre of the luxury hotel on Tuesday night.
Emergency services were alerted to an incident at the hotel shortly before 8pm that night. Ballyfin Demesne is a five-star luxury country house located at the foot of the Slieve Bloom mountains. More to follow.
