Thiruvananthapuram : A 47-year-old man stabbed his 40-year-old wife and 11-year-old son following a heated argument in their rented residence at Pongumoodu near Sreekaryam here on Tuesday. Sreekaryam police have arrested Umesh, who is working as a manager in a restaurant in the city. His wife Anjana, an IT professional, and her son Aryan are in critical condition and have been admitted to the ICU of the medical college hospital and SAT hospital respectively.

According to police, the incident occurred around 9am when Umesh and Anjana were in a heated argument over an issue that is yet to be disclosed. Umesh stabbed Anjana in her abdomen, and their son, who came into their middle, was also stabbed. The neighbours who heard them scream rushed to the spot and took them to the medical college hospital.



Meanwhile, the people who had gathered there caught Umesh and handed him over to the police. His arrest has been recorded, and he will be produced before the magistrate on Wednesday. The police said the health condition of the mother and son is still critical.

The accused has been booked under BNS Section 109 (attempt to murder). The police will also record Anjana’s statement once she has recovered to know why the incident occurred.
