Times News Network Prayagraj: Pratapgarh police on Sunday arrested a man from Kachi Patti village on charges of illegal storage of firecrackers and booked him under Section 9B of the Explosive Act. The arrested man, identified as Mohd Sabbir (40), was a resident of Kachi Patti (Manikpur). Acting upon a specific tip-off, a team of Manikpur police raided the house of Mohd Sabbir, who had allegedly stored over 100 kg of illegal firecrackers (packed in eight sacks).
The accused had stored the firecrackers illegally to sell before Dussehra festival . However, on being questioned by the police he revealed that the firecrackers belonged to Firoz, a resident of Bhawanpur. He, meanwhile, said that he had stored them illegally with the objective of earning profits by selling them in markets during Dussehra.
