Vadodara: A man accused of cheating people using the offer of jobs at MS University was arrested by crime branch. Manish Katara had been absconding for the last year and a half after a case of cheating was registered against him and two others at Sayajigunj police station. Katara was lodged in Jhalod jail after he was arrested in a cheating case by Dahod police.

Police brought Katara to the city and handed him over to Sayajigunj police. City police had arrested Katara's two accomplices, Shailesh Solanki and Rahul Patel, in May last year. The accused allegedly duped 15 persons out of Rs 1.



67 crore. The racket came to light when Kinjal Patel, a resident of Ahmedabad, filed a complaint against three persons last year. Patel stated that she was told that the accused trio worked at MS University and they helped people get jobs at the university.

She said the accused took Rs 11 lakh from her by promising her a job at MSU. She was also given a joining letter, but the accused later began dithering. Patel later learned that the accused had cheated other jobseekers as well.
