As per the latest statistics, from January 1 to August 11, 2024, the Maldives saw a total of 1,254,646 tourist arrivals, compared to 1,136,289 during the same period in 2023. China remains the top source market, contributing over 176,000 visitors to the Maldives. Russia and the UK follow closely, each attracting well over 100,000 travelers, securing the second and third spots, respectively.



Top 10 Source Markets in 2024: In August 2024 alone, the Maldives attracted 71,589 tourists from the 1st to the 11th, marking a 17.2% increase compared to the same period in 2023, which saw 61,062 arrivals. The highest single-day arrival, recorded on August 3rd, was 7,012 tourists, while the lowest was 5,579 on August 6th.

The daily arrival average for 2024 stands at 5,601, with tourists staying an average of 7.7 days. The Maldives boasts 1,213 operational tourist properties, offering a total of 62,608 beds.

Tourist resorts dominate the accommodation sector, providing the largest share of beds. Breakdown of Tourist Properties: This increase in tourist numbers highlights the Maldives’ growing appeal as a top global destination, attracting visitors from diverse markets. The hospitality sector is encouraged to continue enhancing services to meet the growing demand and maintain the Maldives’ reputation as a premier travel destination.
