Wednesday, August 14, 2024 The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) and the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) have joined forces to enhance Malaysia’s tourism industry through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This strategic collaboration is set to drive significant growth within the travel trade industry, creating substantial business opportunities for members of both associations while contributing to the overall development of Malaysia’s tourism sector. The MoU outlines several key areas of collaboration between MATTA and MAH, focusing on joint initiatives that will benefit the travel trade industry in Malaysia.

Among these initiatives are major projects such as the MATTA Fair, which is one of the country’s largest tourism expos, as well as talent development programs aimed at nurturing the next generation of tourism professionals. Additionally, the partnership will support promotional roadshows in alignment with the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign, aiming to attract both local and international tourists. MATTA and MAH will also work closely to share information and initiatives related to sustainable tourism, ensuring that the industry evolves in an environmentally friendly and socially responsible manner.



This collaboration will facilitate member meetings, encourage the exchange of ideas, and support each other in both national and international tourism events. MATTA President Nigel Wong expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in driving the travel trade industry forward. “This collaboration with MAH marks a significant step forward in our efforts to further enhance the Malaysian tourism industry.
