The cheese toastie (or grilled cheese to our friends across the pond) is a staple lunch option for a lot of sandwich lovers - but making them can be a messy task. Sometimes you can be a precise as you want with your cheese it will still end up melting over the sides, leaving you with burnt cheese on your hot plates that can be difficult to clean. But wouldn't that bubbly goodness be much more enjoyable without the difficult clean afterwards? Well, one man believes he has a simple mess-free solution .
The online content creator, known as @makesushi1 , gained more than 500 likes with his genius tip. In the video, he was seen putting the toastie onto a piece of grease-proof paper and folding it to cover both sides. He then placed the partly-wrapped sandwich on the grill as normal until it was toasted.
He said: "Do you hate leaving a mess when you make cheese toasties? I've got a life hack that is going to change everything for you. Just put your cheese toastie inside baking paper and you'll have no mess forever." The melted cheese stuck to the paper instead of the grill, which meant there was no need to scrub the cheese away afterwards.
TikTok users were stunned by the hack as many couldn't believe they'd never thought of it themselves. One user said: "#Gamechanger," as another wrote: "Something so simple but brilliant!" A third commented: "Great, no mess forever." Meanwhile, someone else penned: "I have given away at least 3 sandwich makers because of the mess! Thanks!" A fifth.
