London City Airport has a limit on when it can operate on weekdays and weekends with the Saturday and Sunday services staying in place. The expansion is part of the airport's plan to increase its yearly passenger capacity from 6.5 million to nine million by 2031.
Trending Despite the increase not everyone is happy about the news. Newham Council initially rejected plans for the expansion last July over climate concerns and noise in the borough. Meanwhile, the airport came under fire after reports found that one in four flights left the base with more than half-empty seats in the first half of 2023.
The airport flies to over 30 destinations including Amsterdam, Belfast, Barcelona, Luxembourg, Rome, Split and Zurich. This comes as London City Airport introduced new security scanners and dropped the 100ml liquid rule from its East London base. Express.
