Picture Credit: X It’s not every day you see a Telugu actor make his Hollywood debut before entering Tollywood, but Mahesh Sriram did just that. Following his roles in international films like Barbie and Haunted Mansion, he’s now set to make his Telugu debut with the upcoming thriller, Phani. Mahesh reflects on his journey and what lies ahead.
“I grew up in Hyderabad, studied at Nizam College, Osmania University, and later pursued animation and graphics. My interest in modelling and fashion shows began here, but the desire to do something bigger pushed me forward,” says Mahesh. “Breaking into Hollywood wasn’t easy. I didn’t know how to find agents or auditions, but over time, I trained myself, built a portfolio, and adapted to global industry standards,” he explains.”My role in Barbie was small, but it gave me visibility.
Working with Greta Gerwig and sharing the screen with Ryan Gosling was a learning experience. Playing a Maharaja in Haunted Mansion alongside Jamie Lee Curtis and Danny DeVito further boosted my confidence,” the actor shared. Now starring in the Telugu thriller Phani, directed by VN Aditya, Mahesh talks about the project.
“The story follows a couple navigating aspirations and challenges in the US, disrupted by an unexpected tragedy. It’s an emotional and grounded role,” he shares. The film, shot entirely in the US, features Catheri.
