Prayagraj: Members of the traffic advisory committee (TAC) of Kumbh mela , led by additional DG ( Prayagraj zone) Bhanu Bhaskar, are carrying out physical verification and spot analysis of railway stations , bus stands, major routes leading to mela campus and static spots to chalk out final blueprint of traffic and crowd management for Kumbh 2025. SSP (Kumbh mela) Rajesh Dwivedi told TOI, “Members of the traffic advisory committee, including senior officials of mela police, Prayagraj police commissionerate, railways, Prayagraj range police, roadways, Kumbh administration, district administration, RPF, GRP, etc, have held four meets to devise a plan for traffic and crowd management for Kumbh mela. Committee members, headed by ADG, are taking out physical verification of routes and spots, particularly railway stations, where millions of devotees would be arriving from different parts of the country for better crowd management and to offer best transportation and convenience to the visitors.

With over 40 crore pilgrims and devotees expected to arrive, Kumbh mela police is focusing on traffic and crowd management. While mela authorities are trying to make the 2025 event ‘divya and bhavya’ (divine and grand), the traffic advisiory committee has listed priorities and decided to focus on crowd and traffic management. SSP Dwivedi said, “Members of traffic advisory committee are coming out with a series of proposals for smooth transportation of devotees and pilgrims and is taking best suggestions helpful for crowd and traffic management.



Traffic advisory committee has already planned to increase parking areas from 1,200 hectares to 1,800 hectares during 2025 Kumbh. The mela campus area will also be increased from 3,200 hectares to 4,000 hectares. Mela authorities have also decided to enhance facilities of ICCC (integrated command and control centre) and under the temporary surveillance system, an additional 676 CCTV cameras, 16 ANPR camera, and artificial intelligence based crowd management system would be utilised.

For better parking arrangement, 80 temporary parking slots will be developed and around 720 CCTV cameras and AI facility would be utilised for better traffic management. There are also plans to install more CCTV cameras at bus stands and railway stations. Plans are afoot to install as many as 40 VMD screens at static points on the mela campus.
