DRY FORK — The Magna Vista volleyball team gave No. 1 Tunstall a run for its money, but came up a dime short in the end in a 3-2 loss to the Trojans in the Piedmont District Tournament championship match Wednesday evening. Tunstall won 25-27, 25-27, 25-18, 25-9 and 15-12 to bring home its fourth consecutive Piedmont Tournament title.

A tight match throughout, it only made sense the fifth frame came down to the wire. The thrilling finishing didn't seem to be on the horizon as the Trojans ripped off a 12-4 run to take a 14-6 lead on senior Madison Austin's service ace. Knowing the district tournament hardware was on the line, the Warriors regrouped and rattled off six straight points of their own to close the gap to 14-12 on senior Hayley Deshazo's kill.



That's as close as Magna Vista got as senior Carleigh Strader hammered home a kill that lifted Tunstall to the comeback victory. People are also reading..

. Trailing 2-1 after three sets, the Trojans set up the decisive fifth set with a win in the fourth. Volleyball is a game of runs and Tunstall broke open a tight match with 11 straight points for a 21-5 lead on senior Colby Eastwood's service ace.

The Warriors put together a run of their own, scoring four consecutive points to pull them within 22-9, but the Trojans recorded the final three points to seal the set. The third set was a tight affair, especially in the opening minutes. However, holding an 8-5 edge, Tunstall put together an 11-2 tear to take a 19-7 lead on a Magna.
