Friday, November 22, 2024 The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board participated in the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, held from November 20-25, 2024, to showcase the state’s film production facilities and its Film Tourism Policy. On November 21, 2024, the Tourism Board hosted an informative session titled “Lights, Camera, Collaboration: Government and Industry Partnership for Filming in Madhya Pradesh.” The event featured notable industry figures including Principal Secretary of Tourism and Culture, Sheo Shekhar Shukla; filmmakers like Amar Kaushik; CEO of Aamir Khan Productions, Aparna Purohit; and actors Abhishek Banarjee, Nitanshi Goel, Sparsh Shrivastava, and Vani Tikoo Tripathi.
Mr. Shukla outlined the key aspects of the Film Tourism Policy, emphasizing the government’s role in streamlining processes and promoting collaboration to make Madhya Pradesh a leading film destination. The policy has already garnered interest from filmmakers for future projects in the state.
Director Amar Kaushik made a significant announcement during the seminar, revealing that the popular horror-comedy franchise Stree would be continuing with multiple sequels. He confirmed that the films would be predominantly shot in Madhya Pradesh, a state known for its diverse landscapes and generous film incentives. Kaushik also mentioned that while the original Stree was initially set in Goa, it was eventually filmed in Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh, in an effort to avoid typical horr.
