Wednesday, August 14, 2024 Macao is experiencing a surge in travel as social and tourism activities return to normal following the COVID pandemic. As a result, the Level 2 travel alert issued on 19 March 2020 for all countries/regions has been updated. The Macao SAR Travel Alert System now encompasses a total of 82 countries and travel destinations.

As issued by the Macao SAR, the current travel alerts in effect are categorized as follows: Level 3 Travel Alert : Israel Level 2 Travel Alert : Egypt, Turkey Level 1 Travel Alert : India, Indonesia, Nepal, Peru, Mindanao (Philippines), Myanmar, Russia, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, United Kingdom, Bangladesh, Fukushima (Japan) Level 3 Travel Alert – Avoid Travel : This level indicates an extreme threat to personal safety. Macao residents planning to travel to or currently in the destination should be aware of the severe situation and the limitations on official assistance that can be provided. It is advised to avoid traveling to the destination and, in some cases, to leave the area.



Level 2 Travel Alert – Reconsider Non-Essential Travel : The threat to personal safety is elevated at this level. Macao residents should reconsider the necessity of travel to these destinations. Non-essential travel is discouraged.

Level 1 Travel Alert – Exercise Caution : At this level, there is an imminent threat to personal safety. Macao residents planning to travel to or currently in the destination should remain alert and vigilant. It is advised to exercise caution and closely monitor the situation.
