Part of the M6 remains closed following a fatal crash. Emergency services, including two air ambulances, were called to the southbound carriageway between junctions 33 and 32 of the motorway on Wednesday, November 6. It followed an incident in which a lorry overturned in a crash involving three cars and another lorry .

Police confirmed one person died in the incident. It's not yet known how many others were injured in the crash but Lancashire Police said there was "a number of serious injuries." The northbound carriageway reopened at around 4am today (Thursday), with one lane closed for emergency central reservation barrier repairs.



The southbound carriageway remains shut. The Heavy Goods Vehicle collided with the central reservation barrier, overturned and came to rest on its side on the northbound carriageway.

"Lancashire Police collision investigation has been completed. Complex recovery, clear up works and barrier repairs continue at the scene. The northbound carriageway was also closed, however a lane 3 closure is in place.
