THE M56 eastbound in Warrington has reopened following a police incident. Traffic was being held and the motorway was closed between junction 10, Warrington, and junction 11, Runcorn last night, Friday. This was after Cheshire Motorway Police declared a 'serious incident' had occurred on the carriageway.
Both directions were closed as emergency services attended to the scene. However, National Highways confirmed in the early hours of the morning that the eastbound carriageway at junction 10 has now reopened. Delays are being reported on the stretch of road currently.
But the westbound side remains closed to motorists, with diversion routes still in place via slip roads. More details on the incident are yet to be confirmed. The #M56 eastbound at J10 #Warrington is now all open.
