Plans for four new glamping pods welcoming visitors for overnight stays in a Suffolk village have been submitted. Proposals for land northeast of The Abbey Cottage in Windsor Green, Cockfield, between Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds, have been submitted to Babergh District Council. The plans suggest that the land be transformed into a glamping pods site including decking areas, mown-grass footpaths, storage areas, and four glamping pods.
The pods are described as "high-quality" and are to be constructed off-site by manufacturer Pod Factory. If the plans are given the go-ahead, the site would operate as a year-round holiday let with pods rented on a nightly basis. A statement submitted to the council read: "Patrons will likely be couples and small families as the chosen target markets by the site operators.
Party groups will not be permitted." It continued: "The site will be marketed as a peaceful and relaxing retreat in nature, which should mean noise from guests is not a consideration, with minimal likelihood of noise and disruption to neighbouring properties and road users." The development would expand the existing business at The Abbey Cottage, which is used as tourist accommodation.
The site would be reached via an unnamed public road off the A1141 and a new entrance is proposed. The statement said: "It is understood that the additional traffic generated by the glamping site will not negatively impact other road users, with a maximum of nine vehicles on site at any one time..
