Upscale resort targets those who don’t want the hassle of maintaining a cottage It’s a year-round “boutique exclusive resort” in Muskoka that offers everything you’d expect from a cottage, including a tranquil setting on a peaceful lake and private sandy beach. Luna Bay by RAM Development Group also promises world-class amenities, including in-suite spa services. An in-house rental management program also means it’s a resort that works for you.

“For most people who really want what a cottage typically offers, which is the nature combined with beautiful views and being on the lake, they really don’t have the opportunity to do so unless they spent a lot of money,” says Russell Jacobson, principal of RAM Development. “This enables those people who want to experience cottage life and who perhaps haven’t been able to afford it in the past to really afford a luxury resort environment and at the same time have an amenity-rich location where they can do summer and winter activities in a first-class setting.” Jacobson describes the rental management program as the “key difference” that distinguishes Luna Bay from other luxury cottage developments in the Muskoka region.

For those who don’t want to spend every weekend at the cottage, having a potentially multi-million-dollar property sitting idle doesn’t make sense, he explains. “The rental management program is on site 24/7 and they’ll be ready to cater to the owners and also the interests of the renters to ensure that they have a fantastic experience, thereby at the end of the day ensuring maximum rental income to the owners and a fantastic experience for the renters themselves.” The upscale resort checks off other boxes, including maintenance.

“There are those people who don’t want to go to the cottage and have the hassles of maintaining a cottage on the weekends and doing all those typical chores,” Jacobson says. Located within the southernmost tip of Muskoka on Sparrow Lake, Luna Bay is a 90-minute drive from Toronto. “With 44 boat slips, it caters to those who want to get out on the water.

It connects directly with the Trent Severn Waterway System, which some of the other Muskoka lakes don’t do, so being at the southern tip has its advantages.” RAM Development expects to break ground on Luna Bay in fall 2025, with occupancy beginning in spring 2027. Each of the 60 units faces the water and will offer westerly views to ensure beautiful sunsets, Jacobson adds.

“We have 53 acres, which will give ample space for walks and trails and exploring.” The resort will be home to tennis, volleyball and pickleball courts, restaurant, children’s game room, golf simulator room, and an adults’ and a children’s pool. It will be a four-season resort, complete with an outdoor heated plunge pool and outdoor sauna with glass walls, fire pits and snowmobile trails.

“It really is about the experience – it’s not just going to a place and (doing the) same thing. You can go there and do 10 different things or just simply relax and enjoy the beauty and it offers that opportunity. But most importantly when you’re not there, the cottage works for you and that is really the difference.
