AUGUSTA, Ga. (WFXG) - The Richmond County Coroner's Office has identified the man who was killed on Lumpkin Road Thursday. 59-year-old Michael Whitfield, of Augusta, died at the scene after being shot at Elliott Park.
On Thursday at 7:15 a.m., deputies responded to the 2000 block of Lumpkin Road in reference to an unresponsive person laying on the ground.
When they got to the scene, they found Whitfield dead. He sustained blunt force trauma. An autopsy has been scheduled.
