Is anything sweeter than childhood friends reconnecting and falling in love as adults? There’s just something undeniably heartwarming about watching friends, who’ve known each other through all messy and complex stages of life, finally realize they have romantic feelings for each other. The childhood friends-turned-lovers romance trope is a successful K-drama formula and ‘Love Next Door’, a new show featuring Jung Hae-in and Jung So-min in the lead, is using it in all its glory. The story revolves around Choi Seung-hyo (Played by Hae-in) and Bae Seok-ryu (Played by So-min), who grew up together since childhood.

Closeness doesn’t seem to bother them in the slightest until their unromantic friendship begins to blossom into something more. The show premiered via Netflix on August 17 and has since released two episodes. The romance or its lack thereof makes their story more appealing as they constantly bicker. Episode two closes with a scenic window scene where Seung-ho and his ladylove converse recalling a sweet memory of the past, avoiding to accept the love for each other. the way he was already looking at her window the entire time.

But as the story progresses, we learn there are many layers to her. Crushed by the pressure of always being a model student and employee, Seok-ryu has hit the big reset button of her life to chase happiness, and it connects with the audience.

He took every hit for her, put every effort to renovate her room, put the stars she really likes on ceiling, console her to lessen her pain, shifted his entire house near her house .. Seunghyo didnt raise the standard in men HE HIMSELF IS STANDARD.
