LOVE Island winners Molly Smith and Tom Clare have revealed their hidden Irish background and opened up on their "intense" life after leaving the villa. The former islanders found love back in January when they took part in the All Stars Winter edition of the hit reality show. The lovebirds went on to win the first season of the spin off show and have since embarked on an eight-month whirlwind romance.

On a fly in visit to Dublin , Molly , 24 and Tom , 30, spoke to the Irish Sun about their Irish backgrounds. The reality stars both revealed they have Irish grandparents and are already "dying" to return and "go and see where there families came from". Tom said: "My granddad passed away before I was even born.

My mum was like 13 when he died. She tells me all the stories about how our Irish family used to come over and speak in the thick Irish accent. Molly then immediately cut across and gushed: “I just love the Irish accent, it’s just the best.

I’m always saying to my mum like, 'I wish that the accent had travelled down to us'.” She continued: "I was quite young so I can’t really remember my granddad but I remember he was like really loud but of course lovely." The lovebirds recently took their relationship to the next level after purchasing an incredible mansion together.

In a video posted to Instagram , Molly and Tom shared the news by toasting to their next chapter with a glass of champagne as they stood in front of the impressive new pad. Molly said: "It’s a big milestone and we were conscious it might not work out so we didn’t want to say anything just yet." While Tom added: "We kept it all very close and just told family and stuff during the process of buying it, but it’s something that we’ve both always wanted.

It obviously needs a lot of work and we have lots of plans and we want to put our own touch on it." When asked how the pair knew they had made the right decision in buying a property together after a short period of knowing each other, Tom simply replied: "When you know, you know." With both Molly and Tom experiencing life in the Love Island villa twice, Molly in 2020 Love Island fame, Tom in Love Island 2023 and both appearing in Love Island All Stars 2024.

The couple admitted that it was a lot more "intense" coming back to reality after winning the competition the second time around. Tom confessed: “I think a lot of the time the public will try and push you in the direction that they want your relationship to go, but we just took it day by day. Molly added: “I do think that being in the public eye obviously gives people more of an opinion.

"You kind of go in the second time knowing what to expect but nothing that you expect ends up happening. You think you’re going to be more confident and like, ‘Oh I know how it works’ but no.”.
