While there were much of this past season’s cast at the taping, one islander – Caine Bacon – was originally supposed to attend and even flew to New York, but he says he was “cancelled” from the reunion. While responding to a comment on TikTok, which read, “Why was the reunion cancelled?!?” Caine replied, “It isn’t I mean I’ve been cancelled from it lol” So, why was he “cancelled” from the reunion? It is assumed that it could be due to a video, which has since been deleted, that he posted at a Korean restaurant where he says some racially insensitive things and making a mockery of using chopsticks.
TikTok user soogia1 broke down the video and what went wrong. Following the backlash to the video, Caine removed it from his TikTok account and has since shared several other videos addressing the situation and production on the reality show overall. In one clip, he apologizes and takes accountability for his words and actions, explaining that he meant no ill will, and spoke to people of Asian decent that he knows to inquire what he actually did wrong.
“I would have never posted this video if I knew the offense it would have caused, he said in a video . “I’ve even googled certain things..
and I’ve actually studied it. What I will say is, I’ve realized in that situation, why certain people have taken offense. So, for the people who are genuinely offended, I apologize, okay? I’m sorry.
If you know me, or the people who have followed me for a long time know I love all people, and I’m nothing like that. So in that sense, I’m genuinely sorry if people caused offense by that.” In other videos, Caine has also gone as far as calling out a producer by name and has threatened to break NDAs to speak the truth about different situations.
