On Love is Blind UK, a British offshoot of the inexplicably popular US reality hit, the classic TV dating format is given a terrifying 21st century makeover.

Thirty contestants set up shop in a sci-fi-esque bunker where boys and girls are divided into separate living quarters. Here, the show’s married hosts, Emma and Matt Willis, inform our lucky participants that they are, in fact, players in a reality television show (just in case they didn’t know), and that the aim of the game – sorry, “experiment” — is to find themselves a husband or wife. Here’s the catch: the boys and girls aren’t allowed to meet in person – not until after they’re engaged.
