Article content . Luxury French fashion house Louis Vuitton has renewed its partnership with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami for a 20th anniversary celebration of the iconic — even era-defining — multicoloured monogram collection. The re-edition collection revisits some of the most recognizable silhouettes from the original release, which first debuted in 2004, including the Speedy and Pochette.
Several new handbag and accessories silhouettes, such as the OnTheGo and The Dauphine Soft, also feature the eye-catching colourful print. More than 200 unique creations will be a part of the latest Louis Vuitton × Murakami release. Initially launching in Canada on Jan.
3, the release is being referred to as the first “chapter” by the luxury fashion house. A second Louis Vuitton x Murakami release is slated for March 2025 and will highlight the celebrated artist’s Cherry Blossom design. Murakami’s Superflat Panda and Monogram Flowers motifs join the multicolour spin on the historic LV monogram in this first release.
The Monogram Multicolore appears in both black and white iterations spanning wallets, scarves, footwear small leather goods, perfume bottle travel case — and even a skateboard. The much-talked-about collection is supported by an aughts-inspired campaign fronted by Louis Vuitton ambassador, Zendaya. And, if the buzz surrounding the release online is any indication, this Louis Vuitton x Murakami launch is likely to be a hit.
