Loraine Fleming Butcher, 96, of Winston-Salem, went peacefully to join her heavenly father on Thursday, Aug. 22 2024, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House with her family by her side.

Mrs. Butcher was born on June 20, 1928, to the late Victoria Smith and Robert William Fleming. Mrs.

Butcher was a longtime member of Beck’s Baptist church. After she retired from Hanes Hosiery Mill, she took on the job she enjoyed the most, taking care of two of her grandchildren Carson and Emily. Mrs.

Butcher was a member of the Rural Hall Senior Citizen Club for many years. Our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother enjoyed working puzzles, Scrabble, reading, and most of all game night with her family. She was always ready to travel to Cherokee and the beach.

Her favorite trips were to Hawaii and the family cruise to Mexico. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers and sister-in-law, Robert M Fleming, Albert Fleming, Curtis and his wife Maureen Fleming; sister and brother-in-law, Louise and husband Ted Speas; sons Ronald Butcher, Dennis Butcher; son-in-law Charles Earp; and grandson Carson Earp. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Roger Butcher, Linda Earp, Ronda Mayberry and her husband Jerry; grandchildren, Denise Cheek, Danielle and husband Matt Germini, Emily and husband Dusty Southern; great-grandchildren, River Jackson and his wife Onna Perez, Lily Jackson, Julia Friel and Porter Southern; best friends, Hazel Martin and Hortense Hall.

Our beautiful Mother was our inspiration and was the heart and soul of our family. Through ups and downs and in every step of life, she was our rock. A visitation will be held one hour before the service at the funeral home.

The service for Mrs. Butcher will be on Sunday, Aug. 25, at 2 p.

m. at Moody’s Funeral Home in Mount Airy with Pastor David Renegar and Minister Steve Stone officiating. Burial will follow at New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, N.C.
