Popular bar and restaurant chain Loungers opened the new Maggio Lounge last Thursday - in the former M and Co, next to WH Smith and opposite Kodak Express. The old clothing retail store has been redecorated with heavily patterned wallpapers, tiling and striped wooden floors alongside vintage sofas, upholstered lounge chairs, artwork and new lighting to create a “cosy and elegant” dining experience. It also pays “particular” attention to families and dog owners with a selection of games, books, colouring pencils and pads on offer, and a doggy station offering treats and water for their diners' pets.

Thomas Keauffling, general manager at Maggio Lounge, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming the good folk of Billericay through the doors of Maggio Lounge. “It’s a wonderful community and we’ve been made to feel very at home already with some lovely feedback. “We’re looking forward to meeting everyone and to getting involved in this great neighbourhood.

” Gemma Irwin, head of community at Loungers, added: “We hope our family friendly environment and top-notch food and drink offering will prove popular with local residents. “We’re passionate about integrating genuinely into the communities we serve so we’re looking forward to meeting everyone and to playing our part at the heart of Billericay’s scene. “Anyone looking for a space to host events or groups should pop in once we are open, we’d love to hear from them and see what we can do to help.
