gov . Nov. 15 A New York jazz musician in SLC Alan Braufman ’s 50-year career in jazz started in New York, where he made his name in the “free jazz” movement, where solo improvisation is more common.

For the last 30 years, though, Braufman’s been living in Salt Lake City. In recent years , interest in his landmark 1975 debut album, “Valley of Search,” led to him recording “The Fire Still Burns” in 2020 and this year’s “Infinite Love Infinite Tears.” Braufman will perform from the new album for the first time in Salt Lake City, Friday at The State Room , 638 S.
