A long-established family curry house has been nominated in The Bolton News' Best Curry House 2024 awards . Spice Island on Tonge Moor Road is one of the 10 finalists. The people of Bolton took to the polls to nominate their favourite place for a curry in the borough earlier this month, with the 10 best being put through to the final.

The Tonge Moor takeaway has built up a loyal customer base over the 29 years it has been in town, being particularly revered for the Bangladeshi curries it serves up. Manager Joynal Uddin and head chef Mehbub Hussain have run the business together since it was established.
