The long-awaited Multi-Level Parking (MLP) Facility at Nampally, whose construction began five years ago, is finally nearing completion. The project was aimed at alleviating limited parking options for metro commuters. Developed by Bhari Infra Pvt Ltd under a Public Private Partnership (PPP), the complex is built with a cost of Rs 80 crores.
The project completion was delayed due to global supply chain disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The Multi-Level Parking is a 12-floor structure with three basement levels. Ground floor to fifth floors will be used for commercial use, while sixth to twelfth floor and all basement levels will be used for parking.
It has a capacity to accommodate 250 cars and 200 two-wheelers. The commercial space will be leased for various activities, including movie screens, food courts among others. The parking system is equipped with German Palis automated parking technology.
On the ground floor, there are four terminals from where the vehicle will be automatically lifted and parked at the designated spot through a transporter shuttle. To retrieve the parked vehicle, the users need to present a ticket to a card reader which activates a transporter shuttle, which will automatically bring the vehicle to the driver. The system takes one minute to park a vehicle and two minutes to retrieve it.
The parking facility is expected to open to the public by January 2025..
