London Stansted celebrated its busiest day ever on October 27th, as over 107,000 travelers passed through the terminal at the start of the half-term holidays.

This new milestone surpasses the previous record of 104,000 passengers set on August 23rd, marking the fourth time a daily record has been broken at the airport in 2024. The surge in travel demand for family vacations and short breaks during the half-term also helped Stansted achieve its busiest October on record. A total of 2.



67 million passengers used the airport last month, up by 97,000 compared to the previous October, which held the prior record. Popular destinations included Turkey, the Canary Islands, Spain, and Portugal, with many passengers taking advantage of the school break. Inbound travel also reached unprecedented levels as international visitors flocked to London and the East of England, drawn by major European football matches and NFL games hosted in the capital.

Operational efficiency remained a highlight, with 99% of passengers clearing security in 15 minutes or less, and average wait times during peak departure periods holding steady at just two minutes. Over the 12 months ending in October, London Stansted served 29.45 million passengers, reflecting a 6.
