Tuesday, January 21, 2025 London Stansted Airport will launch contactless train ticketing in 2025, transforming rail travel and enhancing convenience across South East England. The UK government has announced plans to expand contactless “pay as you go” train ticketing to London Stansted Airport in 2025. This initiative aims to make rail travel more convenient and accessible across South East England, streamlining the ticketing process for passengers.

According to the Department for Transport (DfT), the “tap in, tap out” ticketing system will be introduced at 96 additional stations in the London region this year. This includes rail stations serving London Stansted and London Southend airports, making travel to these key hubs easier for commuters and travelers alike. The rollout will begin on February 2, with contactless ticketing being implemented at 47 new stations across the UK.

Later in the year, another 49 stations will adopt the system, enhancing connectivity and simplifying journeys at major locations, including Stansted and Southend airports..
