Tuesday, September 24, 2024 Parts of the UK remain under flood warnings following severe rainfall on Sunday and Monday, which caused widespread chaos. Roads, schools, and rail services were affected, with many commuters stranded and transport systems overwhelmed. The heavy rain coincided with the autumn equinox, leading the Met Office to issue warnings of further flooding.

The Environment Agency placed 32 flood warnings and 94 alerts across affected areas. On Monday, amber and yellow weather warnings were in place for much of England and Wales, leading to the closure of several schools that are expected to remain shut on Tuesday. Commuters faced major disruptions as rail services across the country were affected. Heavy rain and strong winds are expected, with the possibility of further flooding.
